COVINGTON, Ind. —
Virginia Irene Wilkins, 73, of Covington, Ind., died at 6:05 p.m. EDT Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Danville Regional Rehab, Danville, Ind., after a valiant fight with cancer.
She was born Dec. 18, 1939, in Danville, Ill., the daughter of the late Donald and Mary Virginia (Grubbs) Switzer.
Virginia was a life resident of Wabash Township and a 1957 graduate of Perrysville High School.
She was a beautician for 45 years, retiring in 2008.
Virginia was a member of West Liberty Church of Christ and Wabash Township Garden Club, and was a 4-H Club member for 10 years. She was an avid card player and enjoyed mushrooming.
Surviving are two sons, Granger Wilkins of Roachdale, Ind., and Travis L. Wilkins of Covington; three grandchildren, Hunter, Ashley and Emma Wilkins; and several cousins.
Funeral services: 10 a.m. EDT Tuesday July 9, at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Rev. Mick Buchanan and Kevin Wildman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
