Margaret 'Peggy' E. Lanham Haught

DANVILLE — Margaret “Peggy” E. Lanham Haught, 95, of Danville, formerly of Potomac, passed away at 9:35 p.m., Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home.

Peggy was born June 10, 1918, in Danville, the daughter of Mont and Lora (Falls) Branson.

She married Richard Lanham on Aug. 30, 1940, in Danville. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1973. She later married Arthur “Pete” Haught on Sept. 11, 1987, in Las Vegas, Nev. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 2006.

She is survived by a daughter, Diana (Dick) Jameson of Oakwood; two grandchildren, Tim (Pablo Gonzalez) Mullins of Atlanta, Ga., and Vicki (Mark) Crawford of Danville; two great-granddaughters, Megan (Dan) Schroeder and Margo Crawford, both of Huntington, Ind.; and one great-great-granddaughter, Grace Schroeder.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sisters and one brother.

Peggy started her career as a bookkeeper for McBroom Lumber Company. She later owned and operated Peggy’s Department Store in Potomac and was co-owner of Lanham Funeral Home in Potomac until Richard’s untimely death in 1973.

After Richard passed away, Peggy moved to Naples, Fla., in 1975, where she met Pete and they lived there for over 35 years.

Peggy loved to paint and was very talented with her artwork. She also enjoyed shopping and traveling. Peggy took great pride in her family and loved to spend time with them.

Peggy’s family would like to say a special “Thank You” to the staff at Colonial Manor for their excellent care and support.

A celebration of Peggy’s life will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Wolfe-Blurton Funeral Home in Potomac, with Pastor Randy Holden officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private burial will be held in the Potomac Cemetery.
