Gerry D. Swaim Sr., 58, of Kingman, Ind., passed away at 7:56 p.m. EDT Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, in Veedersburg, Ind.
He was born Oct. 25, 1954, in Danville, the son of the late Rudolph Lee and Rachella M. Presley Swaim.
He married Barbara G. Daugherty on Nov. 30, 1973, in Montezuma, Ind. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Gerry (Lindy) Swaim Jr. of Springfield, Mo., Harold Lee Swaim of Paris, Ill., and Michael (Jessica) Swaim of Newtown, Ind.; stepmother, Myrtle Lilley of Hillsboro, Ind.; father-in-law, Harold Daugherty of Mecca, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vickie Lynn (Ricky) Gunter of Indianapolis and Heidi Gibbs of Westville; five brothers, Terry (Rose) Swaim of Tilton, Gayland (Jan) Swaim of Anderson, Ind., Mike (Laura) Swaim of Danville, Donald (Renee) Swaim of Hillsboro, Ind., and Michael Christensen of Kingman, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
Gerry was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
Gerry was a retired supervisor and truck driver for Phelps Disposal. He enjoyed hunting for ginseng, going to casinos and watching sports, especially the Chicago Bears.
Funeral services: 1 p.m. EDT Monday, Sept. 9, at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Ind. Officiating: Pastor Roger Mertens. Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Ind.
