Mildred “Evans” Flathers, 92, of Danville, formerly of Eldorado, Kan., passed away at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Presence USMC.
She was born March 19, 1921, in Elbing, Kan., the daughter of Jack and Maybelle Cullop Seeney.
Mildred was first married to Clifton Bennington and later married Herb Evans and also Cleo Flathers; they all preceded her in death.
Those who will miss her are one stepson, Guy Edward (Lucille) Evans; a stepdaughter, Diana (Billy) Plott; her daughters, Carolyn (Everett) Tooker and Darlene Koch; 19 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters and three grandchildren.
Mildred enjoyed painting by numbers, embroidery, dancing and league bowling. In her younger days, she worked as a hospital housekeeper and motel maid and lastly as a greeter at Walmart.
A celebration of life funeral service for Mildred will begin at noon Monday, Sept. 9, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel in Westville. Officiating will be Wade Martin. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in St. John’s Evangelical Cemetery near Homer. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
