---- — Marian “Penny” Flynn, 85, passed away at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, in Lakeland, Fla.

She was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Mason City, Iowa, to Velna and Arthur James Bracken.

She married Raymond Flynn of Hoopeston on Aug. 28, 1946, where she lived for 57 years.

She spent many years as a food service manager for the school system in Illinois. Marian spent several years helping the First United Methodist Church with bazaars and designing and making quilts 900-1,000 in Illinois and her church in Florida for the needy children of Polk County. She moved to Lakeland, Fl in 2003.

Survivors include a daughter, Jacqueline (Scott) Johnson; a grandson, Graham Johnson of Lakeland, Fla.; two sisters, Dorothy Frenz of Tucson, Ariz., and Lavonne Grupp of Chanhassen, Minn.; also many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother and nephew.

Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send a memorial to the First United Methodist Church in Hoopeston.
