Betty Eileen Creighton, 79, of Armstrong, passed away at 6:47 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Country Health Care in Gifford.
Betty was born Aug. 27, 1933, in Blount Township, the daughter of Kenneth and Mildred (Dennison) Arnold.
She married Wilbur Creighton on Aug. 29, 1951, in Sacramento, Calif. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2012.
She is survived by one daughter, Becky (Ed) Hillman Jr. of Armstrong; two sons, Dennis Creighton of Mattoon and Frank (Cindy) Creighton of Mahomet; five grandchildren, Nicole Shaffer of Gulf Shores, Ala., Heather (Tyson) Roan of Elmhurst, Eddie Hillman III of Armstrong, and Jimmy and Justin Creighton, both of Mahomet; two great-granddaughters, Lily and Madison Roan; sister, Darlene Rickart of Charles City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Helen Creighton of Armstrong; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and nephew.
Betty graduated from Armstrong High School. She worked for several years as a cook at the Armstrong/Ellis Grade School. She later owned and operated Betty’s Corner Ceramics for several years. Betty loved making ceramics and enjoyed selling them at craft shows. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, cake decorating, flowers, feeding birds, especially hummingbirds and spending time with her grandchildren.
A Celebration of Betty’s Life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Wolfe-Blurton Funeral Home, 400 N. Vermilion St., Potomac, with Pastor Sally Swaim officiating. Burial will follow the service in Partlow Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
