James Allen Jackson

DANVILLE — James Allen Jackson, 58, was born July 19, 1954, in Greenville, Miss., to the late Joseph Jackson Sr. and the late Viola Jackson.

James was a Danville High School graduate, Class of 1972.

On Oct. 10, 1980, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Debra Ann Crosby.

God blessed him with nine loving children, Durrell (Tammy) Robinson, Steven Westley, TiKisha (Lamar Echols) Jackson, Evony (Bryson Newsome) Jackson, Anika Jackson, Jamie (Santez Smith) Jackson, Brian Robinson, Elissa Perry and Damon Young. He had 20 grandchildren whom he loved very dearly, Shakeevia, J’Juan, Lamar, Zyrionna, Anthonee, Aariyjah, Izayah, Destinee, JhaDion, Azariyah, Debreia, Anaiya, Tyrea, Jeramy, Jayden, Brandon, Shallomy, Terry, Gabby and Amber; and a special goddaughter, Shatianna Turner.

James was a faithful member of Greater Christ Apostolic Church under the leadership of Dr. Stephen W. and first lady Mary Turner.

He loved spending time with his family and his friends. He loved watching movies. There probably was not a movie that he had not seen. Just about any day of the week you could catch him at Lincoln Lanes. He truly enjoyed bowling.

He worked at KIK for 32 years, where he was a secretary of his union. He would not miss his union meetings for the world.

James Allen Jackson transitioned from life into eternity on Monday, June 17, 2013, at his residence.

James leaves to cherish his loving memory, his children and grandchildren; one sister, Gladys (Melvin) Red of Bloomington; five sisters-in-law, Ola (Bill) Wynn, Chris (Thereon) Bell, Linda Bell and Lavonna Brown, all of Danville, and Patricia (Robert) Miller, of Southhaven, Miss.; and three brothers-in-law, Samuel (Roberta) Crosby, William (Sharon) Crosby and Stanley (Pamela) Crosby, all of Danville; several special friends; and a host of nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Jackson; his mother, Viola Jackson; his father, Joseph Jackson Sr.; a brother, Joseph Jackson Jr.; a sister Elma McGee; a mother-in-law, Addie Mae Crosby; a daughter Candace; and a sister-in-law Rose Mae Forthenberry.

A celebration of life will begin at noon Saturday, June 22, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave., Danville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating: Dr. Stephen W. Turner. Interment: Spring Hill Cemetery. A public viewing will commence from 1-5 p.m. Friday, June 21, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville.
