AUBURN — Mark A. Estock, 57, of Auburn, formerly of Danville, died at 11:46 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Mark was born June 28, 1955, in Danville to Harold and Phyllis (Carder) Estock.

He attended Diamond Grade School and Oakwood High School, graduating in 1973, and going on to Southern Illinois University to earn a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement in 1977. He then went on to Eastern Illinois for a master’s degree, which he earned in the early ’80s.

Mark was a police officer early in his career in the Gibson City, Paxton and Danville areas. He then worked in law enforcement in the Champaign County and Springfield areas until he retired in 2010.

He was a family-centered man with a good sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing, listening to his music collection and taking leisurely rides on his motorcycle. Mark was a Mason for 34 years and became an Ansar Shriner when he moved to Springfield. He was a member of Auburn United Methodist Church. In addition, Mark, also known as “Scooter,” was a member of the Springfield Chapter of Roughnecks Motorcycle Club.

Mark married Kathleen Hargan on Aug. 22, 1977, and she survives.

Also surviving are four children, Hallie (Dan) Bilbrey, Abbey Estock, Joe Estock and Samuel Estock; his sister, Cheryl (Rex) Richards; and three nephews, Ryan Brady, Jeremy Brady and Eric Richards.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, at Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams, Danville, with pastors Brian Caughlan and Ron Rasmus officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, June 17, with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. by Further Light Lodge 1130; it is open to the public. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
