---- — Ruthie L. Finch, 74, of Danville, passed this life at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

She was born June 12, 1939, in Cave Spring, Ky., the daughter of James Finch and Eleanor Morrow Beasley.

Ruthie worked for Danville Care Center for over 30 years. She was an avid Bulls fan and enjoyed cooking and reading her Bible. She was a member of Greater Shiloh Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the Nurses Board.

She leaves to cherish her children Marilyn (Teddy) Carter, Veronica (Travis) Vannote, Zachary, Lamont, Keith (Joyce) Steve, Towanda Holmes, Tramell (Angela) of North Carolina and Royce. She is survived by her stepmother, Lucille Finch; and brothers, James Dee (Mary) and Johnny Finch, all of Russellville, Ky., Terry (Susie) Beasley Sr.; Renee Beasley of Danville, Regina Beasley, Los Angeles, Calif., Totress Beasley, Pasadena, Calif., and Linda Relliford, Danville; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son and grandson.

The family would like to thank the entire Carle Hospital ICU staff and her doctors, the Champaign-Urbana Regional and Rehab Center, the nurses, CNAs and therapy staff. Special thanks to “La,” a very special friend, Louise Cunningham, also Yvonne Scruggs, Kay Walker and Kim and Shanna McGuire and Beverly Bryant. A very special thanks to her pastor and his wife, Pastor and Mrs. U. Pete Williams, and the entire Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

A home going service will commence at noon Friday, Sept. 13, at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church, 609 N. Bowman Ave. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Viewing will be from 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams. Officiating: Pastor U. Pete Williams. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery.
