Linda Kay Sprague

HOOPESTON — Linda Kay Sprague, 69, of Hoopeston, passed away at 3 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Linda was born April 17, 1943, in Hoopeston, to Paul Forbes and Gertrude Elkins Gooch.

She married Gene Myron Sprague on April 24, 1966, at the First United Methodist Church in Wellington. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1991.

Surviving are three sons, Steven Paul (Teena) Sprague of Danville, Jonathan Forbes Sprague of Chicago and William Thomas Sprague of Champaign; one daughter, Amy Elizabeth (David Olson) Sprague of Hoopeston; four grandchildren, Lauren Ashley Sprague of Danville and Nicholas Alan, Anthony Thomas and Joshua Alexander Delfino, all of Hoopeston.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, William Moore; her husband; and her brother, David Gooch.

Linda graduated from Hoopeston High School and Illinois State University. She had taught at Honeywell School for over 30 years.

She was an avid reader who enjoyed playing solitaire, traveling, shopping — especially trips to Chicago, Indianapolis and Saugatuck, Mich. — and dining out. She loved spending time with her family and her dogs, Bentley and Bailey.

A public visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at Brown-Alkire Funeral Home, 309 E. Washington St., Hoopeston. Private family graveside services will be conducted at Floral Hill Cemetery, Hoopeston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Honeywell School.
