Nida M. Lockridge Eppley, 76, of Seymour, Ind., formerly of Madison, Ind., died at 6:30 a.m. EDT Friday, May 24, 2013, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.
She was born Aug. 31, 1936, in Madison to Floyd and Marie Hummel Lockridge. She resided all of her life in Madison, moving to Seymour in fall 2008 to be near her son. She was a graduate of Madison High School and a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Nida was united in marriage to Herschel W. “Epp” Eppley on Aug. 20, 1955, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Madison. They enjoyed 44 years of marriage until his death on July 21, 1999.
Nida was employed with the Madison Bank and Trust Company, first in public relations and then with the insurance department. After retiring from there, she worked with Joan Smith at Joan’s Quilts and Crafts in Madison.
Nida was a member of the Madison Business and Professional Association and had served as treasurer and president. She enjoyed helping and organizing the Christmas parade and helping with the Madison Regatta Parade. She was a member of the Moose Lodge 765. She enjoyed socializing, reading, sewing, flowers, gardening and her faithful Schnauzer, Abby.
Nida will be missed by her loving son, Bruce (Lisa) Eppley of Seymour; her loving daughter, Barbara (Gary) Wolfe of Fithian, Ill.; her loving brother, Robert A. Lockridge of Madison; her grandchildren, Brett, Chelsea, Logan and Paige. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, William E. Lockridge on April 9, 2004.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. EDT Wednesday, May 29, at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Dr., Madison. Interment will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery in Madison. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. EDT Tuesday and from noon to 1 p.m. EDT Wednesday at the funeral home. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. EDT Tuesday at the funeral home.
