Marilyn 'Jacky' Thomas Crippin

OAKWOOD — Marilyn “Jacky” Thomas Crippin, 78, of Oakwood, was honored by the presence of our Lord, to greet her into Heaven at 2:07 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, with her husband by her side.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Pape Memorial Home, 10 E. Williams St. in Danville, with the Rev. Christina Cataldo officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. Jacky will be laid to rest at Allhands Cemetery following services. Memorials may be made to Vermilion Manor Nursing Home or Passages Hospice.

Jacky was born Feb. 3, 1935, in Danville to Earl Thomas and Norma (Johnson) Thomas. She attended Daniel and Collett grade schools, Danville High School and Danville Area Community College.

She worked at several drive-in restaurants and Bohn Aluminum, and was a home health aide later in her life.

Jacky married Thomas Earl Crippin Sr. on May 1, 1952, and the two went on to have six children: the late Randy Crippin, Terry Crippin, Vickie Quick, Thomas Crippin Jr., Ricky Crippin and Judy Moreman. She is also survived by 11 fabulous grandchildren and 18 precious great-grandchildren; her sister, Phyllis Thomas, a sister in law, Lula Mae Powell; and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; her son, Sgt. Randy Crippin; three brothers, Bobby “Peaches,” Billy and Larry; a sister, Beverly; a grandson, Sgt. Joshua Crippin; a nephew, Kevin Thomas; and one great-grandchild.

Jacky enjoyed the outdoors and would take many drives through the country with her husband just to enjoy the beauty and wildlife. They enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. to explore its beauty. One of her favorites was the home and museum of Louis L’Amour, her most favorite author. She said Niagra Falls was “simply overwhelming.”

Jackie loved her animals, from horses to rabbits to all of the dogs they had throughout the years. She enjoyed gardening, being outside, and feeding the birds and deer. But most precious to Jacky was her family; she enjoyed hugs and kisses from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived for those and could never get enough. Jacky had a sense of humor that everyone enjoyed and she always said, “If you don’t know, just ask.” Jackie will be dearly missed by so many, but we are all comforted in knowing that she is being united with her loved ones that she has missed for so many years.
