BROOKSTON, Ind. —
Luana M. (Blue) Day, 92, of the Indiana Veterans Home, formerly of Brookston, Ind., passed away at 7:47 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Ind.
Born April 18, 1921, in Grape Creek, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Luella (Beaver) Blue.
She was a graduate of Westville High School in Westville.
She married her husband of 42 years, Owen Day, on Oct. 18, 1941, in Tuscola, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1983.
Luana was a homemaker and a member of Crestview United Brethren Church in Lafayette and in later years attended the Church of Christ in Brookston. She served as a former Brownie and Girl Scout leader in Battle Ground, Ind., and also enjoyed teaching many to play the piano in the Battle Ground community. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting and painting.
She is survived by her two daughters, Arlene McGill of Brookston, and Arlys Ross (husband Don) of Liberty Center, Ohio; a sister, Rose Haskins of Tijeras, N.M.; and a brother, Buddy Blue of Danville; seven grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Luana was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Laddie Blue; and a great-grandson, Noah Ross.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral services at 2 p.m. EDT Tuesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home, Lafayette, Ind. Interment will follow in Battle Ground Cemetery.
