Margaret L. Holycross, 85, of Covington, Ind., went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2013, at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
She was born March 19, 1928, in Attica, the daughter of Frederick and Golda Dora Katherine Ellen (Butt) Van Dame. She married Wayne Holycross on June 20, 1947, in Covington.
Surviving her are four daughters, Donna (Duane) Lathrop of Covington, Sharon (Mike) Falletti of Covington, Connie (Terry) Boersma of Brownsburg, Ind., and Jackie Kempen of Covington; two sons, Kenny (Rose) Holycross of West Lebanon, Ind., and Lyle Holycross of Danville; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and very special friends, Bert and Bob Cunningham.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and four siblings, Maxien L. Van Dame, Norman J., Frederick and Charles L. “Bud” Van Dame.
She worked for R&S Printing for almost 40 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. She loved mushroom hunting and dedicating her time to her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband, especially over the last four years.
A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at 10 a.m. EDT Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Maranatha Baptist Church in Covington with Pastors Ken Jones, Scott McCurdy and Matt Harmless officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. EDT Monday, April 1, 2013, at Sunset’s Covington Chapel. Burial will take place at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck, Ill.
Memorials can be made in Margaret’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital; Maranatha Baptist Church, 1111 Harrison St., Covington, IN; or the charity of the donor’s choice.
