DANVILLE — Mary Katherine Story, 94, of Danville, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2007, at Hawthorne Inn.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams St., Danville, IL 61832 with Pastor Glen Huffman officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Pape’s. Memorials may be made to Farmer’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 414 Poland Road, Danville, IL 61834. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
Mary was born Feb. 11, 1913, in Canton, Ill., to Commodore Leonard and Estelle Melinda Cameron Collier. She attended Vermont, Ill., grade school, graduated from Hoopeston High School in 1930 and graduated from Lake View School of Nursing in 1934. Mary was responsible for starting Central Supply (sterilization of surgical and hospital supplies) at Lake View Memorial Hospital where she had worked from 1934-1941. She was a longtime member of Farmer’s Chapel Church. She enjoyed collecting dolls and especially spending time with her family.
Mary married Albert Otis Story (former barber) on May 30, 1937, at the home of their friends, Edith and Elwood McDaniel in Williamsport, Ind., and he preceded her Aug. 26, 1996. Survivors include: a daughter: Margie (Robert) Sigmon of Danville; three grandchildren: Steven (Darla) Sigmon of St. Joseph, Leah Ann (Mark) Denhart of Danville and Leslie (Robert) Hibbs of Sturtevant, Wis.; four great-grandchildren: Cameron Leigh Hibbs, Evan James Hibbs, Jacob Paul Sigmon and Sarah Grace Sigmon. She was preceded by her parents; her husband, Albert; a son, John Albert in 1968; a sister, Marjorie Irene Cox in 1935; and two brothers, Carl Leonard Collier and Harry Dell Collier.
