DANVILLE — Ralph J. Rhoades, 94, of Danville, passed away at 2:25 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at Quincy Veterans’ Home in Quincy.
He was born Jan. 3, 1920, in Cainsville, Mo.
He married Gloria Lockwood on June 23, 1982, in Danville. She preceded him in death on October 12, 2009.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth Rhoades; two step-daughters, Elizabeth (Larry) Rodgers of Ashland City, Tenn., and Jacquie (Richard) Prevette of Savoy; a step-son, James Lockwood of Danville; four grandchildren, Heather (Sean) Senteney, Elizabeth Stennett, Chelsea (Jerod) Kizer, and David (Cassie) Rodgers; and many great-grandchildren.
Ralph worked as a chemist for Illinois Power (Ameren) and E.I. DuPont. He served his country proudly during WWII by enlisting in the Army as an MP. He also was a member of the Rotary Club.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Ralph Rhoades will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Danville National Cemetery in Danville.
Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 210.
