---- — GEORGETOWN — Rebecca “Becky” Blue, 63, of Georgetown, went to be with her Lord at 7:15 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, after a short, but brave battle with cancer.

She was born on June 20, 1950, the daughter of Russell A. and Esther G. {Minser} Boen.

She was united in marriage to John Blue on June 6, 1992, at Georgetown Friends Meeting Church.

She is survived by her mother, Esther Boen; her husband, John Blue; and her step-son, Kevin (Melissa) Blue of Spring Creek, Nev.; her step-daughter, Crista (Dean) White of Champaign; her step-grandchildren, Matthew Blue of Champaign, Mallory, Courtney, George and Amelia Blue, all of Spring Creek, Nev.; her in-laws, Ivan and Mabel Blue of Pana; and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Boen; and her brothers, Rick and David Boen.

Becky attended Georgetown Schools and was in the first kindergarten class held in the basement of the Methodist Church in Georgetown, which her mother taught. She graduated from Georgetown High School Class of 1968. She graduated from DACC in 1970 and went on to Southern Illinois University.

After graduation, Becky worked a few months in Chicago, and then returned home to work at Interstate Printers & Publishers, Inc. She then went to work at Heatcraft in Danville until its closing. She then worked as a teacher’s aide for a year at Pinecrest Elementary, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She retired in 2012 to care for her mother.

Becky was a member of the Elwood Friends Church and also enjoyed volunteering at the Georgetown Fair in the Photography Department, as well as volunteering in other aspects.

If Becky ever met you and talked to you, you were her friend and she never forgot you. She had a strong faith in God and lived her life that way. She had many good friends who will miss her daily.

A celebration of Becky’s life will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 13, at Elwood Friends Meeting House, with Garry Hendrick officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Sunset’s Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home and also one hour prior to her service at the church on Friday. She will be laid to rest at a later date.

Besides floral tributes, memorial donations may be given in Becky’s name to Elwood Friends Church c/o Carla Newlin, 17310 E 670 N Rd, Georgetown, IL 61846. Please join her family in sharing memories through her Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
