NAPERVILLE — Imogene F. “Gene” Deck (nee Toby), 89, a resident of Naperville since 1987 and formerly of Danville and LaGrange Park, died unexpectedly Monday, June 3, 2014, at Edward Hospital in Naperville.
She was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Danville.
Beloved wife of the late Earl L. “Bud” Deck, whom she married Dec. 15, 1946, and who preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1993; loving mother of Terry L. (Sheila) Deck of Rockford, Vickie Farina of Naperville and Randall (Mary) Deck of Edwardsville; adored grandmother of Valerie (Peter) Heinich and Jeremy (Amy) Deck, Michelle Farina and Mike (Kristy) Farina, Julie (Patrick) Horan, Mitchell and Alex Deck; cherished great-grandmother of Samuel, Christine, Isaiah and Faith, Molly, Nora and Jackson, Jacob, Joshua and Zachary, Stephen Joseph; devoted daughter of the late Fred and Florence Toby; dear sister of Lloyd (the late Lavonne) Toby of Danville and the late Keith (Mary) Toby; fond aunt and great-aunt of many.
Gene grew up in Danville and was a graduate of Danville High School. In addition to raising her family, she worked for Finitzo Brothers Co. for over 30 years. She was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Naperville. Gene will be remembered for her love of family, giving and caring nature and thoughtfulness of others.
Visitation: 1-3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Funeral services will follow at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Rev. Grace Imathiu officiating. Future inurnment: Naperville Cemetery, Naperville.
