---- — Donald Glen Reed, 84, of Cheneyville, Ill., passed away at 9:32 p.m. Tuesday May 13, 2014, at his home.
He was born Sept. 3, 1929, in Cheneyville, the son of Charles D. and Orpha (Troxel) Reed.
He married Lena Jewell Dalton on March 9, 1948, in Rankin. She survives in rural Cheneyville.
He is survived by daughters, Donna (Gary) Catron of Hoopeston, Alice (Brad) Chambers of Cheneyville, and Darlene (David) Musk of Cheneyville; sons, Roger (Sue) Reed of Cheneyville, Russell (Glenda) Reed of Hoopeston, and Randy (Shirley) Reed of rural Cheneyville; sister, Jeanne Custer of Broken Arrow, Okla.; sister-in-law, Rosemary Reed of Cheneyville; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and four sisters.
Donald was a self-employed contractor for many years and attended Cheneyville Church of Christ. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, watching NASCAR, bird-watching, working in his shop and watching westerns. One of Donald’s greatest joys was spending time with his family.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday May 19, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, with Steve Unger officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery.
