DANVILLE — Alice France, 94, of Danville, formerly of Oakwood, passed away at 11:07 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
Alice was born Aug. 7, 1919, in Georgetown to James Westman and Ethel Louella Bailey Boots.
Alice married Harold Dowing April 13, 1940. He passed away May 13, 1968. She later married Gordon W. France on Dec. 31, 1968. He passed away February of 2002.
Alice is survived by one stepson, Joe (Anita) France of Ellensburg, Va.; two daughters, Deloris Ellis of Danville and Helen Lipowsky of Tilton; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Castle; one stepson, one stepdaughter, five brothers, one sister and one granddaughter.
Alice worked as an inspector for General Electric Co. in Danville and enjoyed sewing. She lived in Washington for 36 years prior to her return to the area.
