DANVILLE — Zeenat Attarwala, 60, passed this life peacefully with her family and friends by her side on Friday, April 4, 2014, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
Zeenat is survived by her spouse, Moder Attarwala, and two sons, Muffadal and Ali Attarwala.
Born Dec. 15, 1953, in Mumbai, (formerly Bombay) India, Zeenat graduated from Bombay University with a degree in economics. Zeenat married Moder Attarwala on Oct. 14, 1979, in Bombay, India. The couple came to the U.S., settling in Chicago in 1980. In 1986, they chose Danville for their home when they purchased the former Dairy Queen on Voorhees Street. The couple expanded their business to 2711 N. Vermilion St. until the sale of the business in June 2013.
Zeenat gracefully endured A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in the past two years. She was a very caring mother and wife and a best friend to many. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was known for her kindness and generosity. Her interests included travel, cultural arts, entertaining and people.
Services were held at the Danville mosque with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery in Champaign/Urbana. The Attarwala family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and staff of Presence United Samaritans Medical Center and the Danville Polyclinic Equipment. The Attarwala family would also like to thank the local community and friends of the family for their support and comfort.
