John Carlton Sarver, 71, of Danville, passed away at 5:49 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
He was born Dec. 11 1942, in Glendive, Mont., a son of Martin Dwight and Edna Lorrine (Yopp) Sarver.
He married Doris Jones April 21, 1968, in Lawrenceville. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Annette (Chris) McDonald of Westville, Larry Beard (Jim Scott) of Fishers, Ind., Jackie Beard-Ayoub of Jacksonville, Fla., Lisa (Aaron) Songer of Tilton, Judy (Eddie) Donnely and Kathy (Shane) Moore, both of Danville, and Kelly (Chris) Talbott of Sidell; siblings, Robert Sarver and Brownie Holler, both of Montana, and Julia Johnson of New Mexico; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
John was a truck driver for Ryder Trucking and USF Holland Trucking and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Central Park Church of Christ. He loved to barbecue, attend church and help others. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and giving big hugs.
Services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Central Park Church of Christ, with Pastor Wade Martin officiating. Burial will be in Danville National Cemetery, with military honors by American Legion Post 210. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the church.
