DECATUR, Ga. — Clara Jean Browne, 85, of Decatur, Ga., formerly of Hoopeston, passed away at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Lily Homes in Atlanta, Ga.
She was born April 27, 1928, in Hoopeston, a daughter of Harry D. “Pete” and Ina Conway Chadwick Burtis.
She married Glenn R. Browne Jr. Jan. 7, 1951, in Earl Park, Ind. He preceded her in death in 1985.
She is survived by two sons, Neil Browne of Champaign and Murray Browne of Decatur, Ga.; four grandchildren, Tristan and Sadie Honn and Cynthia and Bonnie Browne; and a great-grandchild.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Honn, a brother and a sister.
Jean worked as a bookkeeper at Milford Canning Company and worked in the office at American Can in Hoopeston. She was a member of Milford Christian Church. She enjoyed knitting and quilting.
Funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at Brown-Alkire Funeral Home, with Pastor Neil Larimore officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
