NORMAN, OKLA. — Gregory Thomas Ritter, 51, passed away June 28, 2013, in Norman, Okla.
Born March 29, 1962, he was the son of Thomas E. and Shirley A. (Birge) Ritter of Danville.
He leaves a daughter, Kaitlin Anne (fiance, Logan Roach); and Greg’s new grandson, Kane Reagan Roach, of Norman Okla.; also a brother, Lenny (Roberta) Ritter of Danville; a sister, Debbie (Mike) Pollock of Westville; a niece, Nikki (Joshua) Nelson, their children, Anastatia, Christopher and Haylee of Westville; two nephews, Bryan (Susan) Lawson of Hegeler; and Pfc. Dakota Pollock.
Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents and an aunt.
A graduate of Danville High and Blinn College in Texas, he attended Tulsa and Portland colleges where he played basketball. He played shortly for the Milwaukee Bucks and the LA Lakers. He also played in Brazil and Germany, taking time to drive through the mountain ranges and see the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Noted for his height of 7 feet, 6 inches, Greg had a great sense of humor anyway. He worked for the Harp Correctional Center in Norman as a sergeant for nearly 14 years.
A memorial service will be held at the Cornerstone Christian Church, 1607 Greenwood Cemetery Road in Danville. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, with Raymond Gordon officiating a service at 4 p.m.
