Helen Marie Vogt, 95, of Danville, passed away at 4:44 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at Hawthorne Inn.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 444 E. Main St., Danville, with Rev. Steven Loftus officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Helen’s name to Holy Family Catholic Church or Schlarman Academy. Pape Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Helen was born May 9, 1918, in Danville to Gus and Helen (Reddy) Vogt.
She attended St. Patrick Grade School and Danville High School, graduating in 1936, and Utterback Brown Business College. Helen was a longtime secretary for the USDA office on U.S. 150 in Danville. She was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church, and belonged to the Daughters of Isabella. Helen enjoyed traveling, being with her family and friends, and reading.
Helen leaves behind a sister, Mary Shields of Danville; nephews, John Shields, Thomas Shields, James Shields and Mark Reddy of Danville, Mark Shields of Ohio, Bill Vogt Jr. of Ohio, and Jim Vogt of Massachusetts; nieces, Lisa Tyler of Danville, Mary McDaniel of Indianapolis, Mary Sheppard of Wisconsin, Katie Kissel of Massachusetts and Margaret Pimm of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, William Vogt, John Vogt, Gus Vogt Jr. and Thomas Vogt; a cousin, Robert Reddy; and a nephew Mike Reddy.
