Charlotte McKenzie, 81, of Danville, passed away at 7:02 a.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at North Logan Health Care Center in Danville.
She was born on July 24, 1931, to William E. and Ruth (Bruner) Courtney in Potomac.
She married David W. McKenzie on Oct. 18, 1957, on the family farm south of Henning. She is survived by her husband, who remained devotedly by her side every day.
Charlotte has family and friends in Danville, Bismarck and Henning, Colonial Beach, Va., Moundsville, W.Va., Frostburg and Cumberland, Md., Williamsport and Brazil, Ind., and Hawaii.
Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her family and godchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling and being a member of the Tops 485 in Danville.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, family and friends.
She will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery in Danville, with graveside rites.
A graveside celebration of Charlotte’s life will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Danville National Cemetery, with Pastor Dan Hunt officiating. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville is handling arrangements.
