Nancy Lee (Ost) Dickson, of Rossville, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at her home.
Nancy was the daughter of Elisabeth M. (McRey-nolds) Ost and Clarence E. Ost. She was born on April 11, 1938.
Nancy graduated from Edison Grade School, Danville High School and the University of Illinois, where she majored in secondary education.
She was married to Wilbur “Sonny” Dickson, and together they had two children, Terri Lynn (Tom) Dickson-Hnizdo of Springfield and Mark Alan (Terri) Dickson of Mackinaw, who survive.
She enjoyed her teaching career at Danville High School. She taught government, U.S. and world history classes, which she often repeated in summer school.
After retiring from teaching at DHS, she moved to Rossville to pursue her interest in antiques and Vermilion County History. She owned Heritage Hall Antique Mall at the time of the fire in Rossville when the entire block was destroyed. Her later years were enjoyed by antiquing, refinishing furniture, working in her yard and having morning coffee with her Rossville friends.
There will be no services as per her wishes. Cremation rites will be accorded by Wolfe-Blurton Funeral Home of Rossville. She will be laid to rest behind the historical church at Mann’s Chapel Cemetery. The Dickson family has entrusted Wolfe-Blurton Funeral Home of Ross-ville to assist them and to honor Nancy’s life.
