Madge Burris, 86, of Georgetown, went to be with her Lord and Savior and was reunited with her daughter, Linda, at 2:27 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
Madge was born Jan. 19, 1927, in Donavan, Ill., to Paul Kenneth and Ella Ellen (Chiever) Murray.
She married Hal F. Burris Sr. on Aug. 18, 1945. He preceded her in death.
Madge worked as a salesclerk at Swartz Market for many, many years.
Those who love and will miss her the most are two sons, Hal (Janet Hill}) Burris of Sidell and Roger (Nancy Nesbitt) Burris of Ridge Farm; two daughters, Susan Campbell-Atwood of Westville and Brenda Daugherty of Tilton; one sister, Carolyn Murray Gallagher; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; friends, Gene and Ann Furr, Tammy Hall, Dora from Georgetown; and her extended church family. Madge was preceded in death by her husband, Hal; her parents; one daughter, Linda; two brothers, Albert Lee Murray and Kenneth Paul Murray; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Murray-Lewis and Glenda Faye Murray-Mosay.
A celebration of Madge’s life will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at Calvary Baptist Church, Tilton, with Rev. Scott McCurdy officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Sunset-Urbas Chapel, Westville. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville.
