Teresita “Tita” Nekola, 67, of Homer, passed away at 3:51 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
She was born March 11, 1946, in Calbayog City, Philippines, to Sebastian and Maria Elaina Dordinez.
She married Ronald Lee Nekola on May 11, 1970, in San Antonio, Zambales, Philippines. He survives.
Also surviving are a son, Frederick Lee Nekola of Anna; daughter, Maria Elaina (Brett) Harrison of Oakwood; two brothers, Enrique Dordinez and Sanjego Dordinez; and seven grandchildren, Jade (Jason) Short, Rylan Harrison, Haven Harrison, Rhett Harrison, Rourke Harrison, Alexis Nekola and Ariel Nekola.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Tita enjoyed fishing, working in her garden, playing cards and cooking. She especially loved to spend time with her husband.
A service to celebrate the life of Teresita Nekola will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Sunset’s Oakwood Chapel. Pastor Patti Wise will officiate. Burial will follow at Stearns Cemetery in Fithian. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 4, also at Sunset in Oakwood.
