WeTona G. Houtzel

BUCKLEY — WeTona G. Houtzel, 52, of Buckley, died at 1:03 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 306 E. Lincoln St., Buckley, with Pastor Ed Potts officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Buckley. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the funeral home.

WeTona was born Jan. 6, 1960, in Paxton, the daughter of Robert B. and Linda Sue Parris Young.

She married Danny L. Houtzel June 21, 1980, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Buckley. He preceded her in death July 26, 2004.

WeTona is survived by her parents, of Danville; a son, Joshua D. Houtzel, of Champaign; a daughter, Lindsey D. Houtzel, of McKinney, Texas; a grandson, Luke; one brother, Jeffery (Lori) Young, of Fithian; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Arlene Houtzel, of Buckley; and a sister-in-law, Janet (Kenny) Rahn, of Sidney.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

WeTona attended Loda Grade School, graduated from Buckley-Loda High School in 1978 and from Parkland College as a massage therapist.

She had been employed by the Onarga Academy, Onarga, for a number of years and more recently worked for the Pioneer Mutual Insurance Company of Onarga. She also worked part time as a massage therapist.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Buckley, and attended the New Life Faith Christian Fellowship, Urbana.

WeTona enjoyed refinishing furniture, doing interior painting for her many friends and spending time with her grandson.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Buckley Fire Department or an organization of the donor’s choice.
