DANVILLE — Willie Sam Washington, 90, of Danville, passed this life at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home.
Willie was born Jan. 27, 1923, in Jackson, Miss., to Willie Sam Washington Sr. and Maggie Bass.
Willie was a truck driver for 46 years and lived to see his family blossom into four generations.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Geneva Allen Washington; two daughters, Tammy Washington and Tracy Washington; and a son, Joel (Nadine) Washington; along with a host of stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at noon Wednesday, May 1, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 311 N. Collett St., Danville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the time of service. A public viewing will commence from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville. Pastor Lucius Barber is officiating. Cremation will follow. Leek & Sons is in charge of arrangements.
