Kay Y. Waltzer

DANVILLE — Kay Y. Waltzer, 68, of Danville, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Champaign Urbana Regional Rehab Center in Savoy.

A service to celebrate her life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at Pape Memorial Home, 10 E. Williams, Danville, with pastor Kenny Young officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 26. The family will lay her to rest privately at a later date.

Kay Yevone Waltzer was born Feb. 11, 1945, in Danville to James C. and Thelma J. Morlan Vibbert.

On June 5, 1961, she fell in love and married Charles E. Waltzer. Kay and Charles had two children, Allen and Toni.

Kay’s true passion in life was spending time with children, which led her into District 118 schools, from which she retired in 2008.

Kay was a long-standing member of the Danville Firefighters Local 429 Ladies Auxiliary. She also was a life member of First Assembly of God and involved with the Knights of Columbus.

Kay and Charles loved western dancing, so much so that during their retirement they opened their own dance studio entitled “KC Western Dance.” Kay also loved her “Vermits,” birds and other such critters, and anybody could tell you she could never get enough Elvis.

Kay is survived by her two children; four grandchildren, Keri, Sean, Matt and Kaylee; four great-grandchildren; and a niece. She was preceded by her loving husband Charles; her parents; and a sister, Karen Bennett.

She will be deeply missed but never forgotten by her close family and friends.
