Charles V. Winters Jr., 80, of Hoopeston, passed away at 6:27 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at his home in Hoopeston.
He was born March 9, 1932, in Plainfield, Ind., the son of Charles Verlon and Myrtle Marie (Warner) Winters Sr.
He is survived by three sisters, Charlotte A. (Joe) Racz of Danville, Sandra K. Winters of Hoopeston, and Beverly J. Mariage of Hoopeston; three brothers, Lester Leroy (Sharon) Winters of Danville, Jack F. (Barbara) Winters of Oklahoma, and Raymond Allen (Virginia) Winters of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Myrtle M. Dilley; and one brother.
Mr. Winters worked at American Can Company in Hoopeston for 45 years until his retirement. He served in the United States Army. Charles enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially his beloved pets, Rover and Shadow.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Anderson Funeral Home, with Pastor Bishop William Caruthers Sr. officiating.
Burial will be at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck. Military rites will be accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion and VFW post.
