GEORGETOWN — Harold E. “Friday” Deffenbaugh, 81, of Georgetown, passed away at 10:35 p.m. Thursday July 10, 2014, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
He was born June 22, 1933, in Vermilion County to Finley Franklin and Mildred Vesta Lewis Deffenbaugh.
He married Caroline J. Kelly on July 17, 1954, in Fairmount. Caroline passed away June 3, 2001.
Survivors include one brother, Franklin (Janet) Deffenbaugh of Hume; four sisters, Fern (Jim) Pettinato of Oceanside, Calif., Joan (Jack) Reed of Garden City, Mich., Phyllis Rutan of Cayuga, Ind., and Mary (Marvin) Wyer of Georgetown; and special grandchildren, Austin and Emily. Friday was preceded in death by one son, Marty Gene Deffenbaugh; two brothers, John and Leroy; and one brother-in-law, Larry Rutan.
He had been a truck driver for 10 years, and also served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed his adopted grandchildren, and his many nieces and nephews. Friday enjoyed fishing and drinking coffee with friends at the local coffee shops.
Services: 3 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at Georgetown United Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Filicsky and Jim Williams officiating. Burial in Danville National Cemetery.
