PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Rosemary “Rosie” Sanks, 70, of Panama City, Fla., and formerly of Danville, passed away at 6:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Panama City Florida Bay Medical Center.
She was born April 10, 1944, in Canton, Ill., the daughter of Wilbur and Dorothy (Fugate) Lane.
She married Phillip “Phil” Ray Sanks on March 27, 1963, in Danville. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 2005.
Surviving are two sons, Chad Sanks of Danville and Johnnie Sanks of Danville; daughter, Darla M. Elias of Panama City, Fla., and son-in-law, (Fi) Manuel Elias, whom Rosie thought of as a son; a brother, Tom Lane; six grandchildren, Joshua A. Elias, Scott P. Elias, Brandon Sanks, Dallas Sanks, Jessica Sanks, and Emyle Sanks; and three great-grandchildren, Rylie Sanks, Ella Sanks and Carleigh Sanks.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Junior Lane.
Rosie was a Danville High School graduate and a past member at Lincoln United Methodist Church. She had worked as a store clerk, nurse’s aide, and a child care giver, but especially enjoyed being a homemaker so she could care for her family.
A service to celebrate the life of Rosie Sanks will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, in Danville. Drew Mentzer will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 14, also at Sunset in Danville.
