KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Sheila Celeste Schafer, 53, of Knoxville, Tenn., and formerly of Danville, passed away on June 3, 2014, at her home.
Sheila was born in Orange, Calif., on Oct. 28, 1960, to Lawrence “Larry” H. Schafer and Jo-Dell C. Schweizer Schafer.
She graduated from Oakwood High School in 1978 and eventually went on to complete a bachelor’s degree at Southern Illinois University. After graduating from SIU, she moved to Knoxville, Tenn., and called that her home until her death.
Sheila is survived by three sons in Knoxville, Tenn.: Tate Andrew Schafer, Taylor Morgan Schafer and Trevor Justice Corbell.
Along with her sons, she is survived by her mother, Jo-Dell Sullivan of Danville; sisters, Simphi (Dave) Lenover and Carla (fiancé, Kevin Sherman) Schafer of Danville, Tricia (Shane) Dickerson of Overland Park, Kan., Amanda (Justin) Wells of Oakwood; brother, Cliff Schafer of Muncie; nieces and nephews, Abbi (Justin) Strader of Bloomington, Lesli Lenover of Danville, Anna, Eli, Lena and Aden Dickerson of Overland Park, Kan., Aubrey and Brevin Wells of Oakwood; great-nephew and great-niece, Carter and Nora Strader of Bloomington; several aunts, an uncle, many cousins and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her fathers, Lawrence “Larry” H. Schafer and Larry Dean Sullivan; maternal grandparents, Richard L. and Dorothy M. Schweizer; paternal grandparents, Herman “Hons” C. and Norma “Jackie” V. Schafer and Bernice I. and Allen E. Bell.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Weaver Funeral Home, Knoxville, Tenn. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Sheila Schafer will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Greenwood Cemetery, Danville, with Rod Godley of Vermilion Heights Christian Church, Danville, officiating.
