Carl Dean Reed departed this life on Friday, June 13th, 2014.
Our beloved Carl Dean Reed was born June 19, 1948, to Doris Jean (Reed) Bryant in Danville.
Carl lived in Danville, and attended Elmwood Elementary, East Park Jr. High and Danville High School until he joined the U.S. Army Special Forces from 1966 until 1968. He fought in the Vietnam War. Once Carl returned to Danville, he worked at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital as a custodian until he retired. During his journey and stay on Earth, Carl enjoyed fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, movies, sports, laughing and interacting with his family and friends.
Surviving and leaving to cherish his memory is his soul mate and companion of 22 years, Barbara Winston; five sons, Brian Potts of Indianapolis, Jason (Annette) Reed of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Michel Reed, James (Danielle) Reed, Carlton Reed all of Danville; and one daughter, Sabrina (Joshua) Donner also of Danville. Also surviving are one brother, Tyrone Bryant of Buffalo, N.Y.; and five sisters, Patty Love-Bryant of Springfield, Julie (Curt) Shelton of Epps, Ala., Rosemary (Danny) Evans of Atlanta, Ga., and Velma Bryant and Christine Bryant, both of Indianapolis. He also had seven grandsons, 10 granddaughters, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Carl was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Bryant; step-father, Johnnie Bryant; grandparents, Theodore and Velma Reed; and four brothers, Ronnie Love, Leonard Bryant, Tracy Bryant and Tony Hamilton.

A Celebration of Life will commence at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Officiating; Pastor Bobby Keys Sr. Interment at Danville National Cemetery.
