Roy R. Dabney Jr., 68, of Danville, passed this life Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
Roy, the son of Roy Sr. and Addie Wilson Dabney, was born Aug. 10, 1945.
He was a Danville High School graduate. Roy served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and did two tours in Vietnam.
After his military career, Roy retired from the VA medical center. He enjoyed music, reading, western and martial art movies, pool and long drives.
Roy leaves to cherish his memory, siblings, Sheila Brown of Bloomington, Huey (Jean) Brown and Madlean (Louis) Tharp, and brother-in-law, Charles McGruder, all of Danville; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, DeMarko Clark and Jeff Burford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; two sisters, Francis Stewart and Edna McGruder; and a brother, Christie Brown.
A celebration of life will commence at noon Friday, June 13, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Officiating: minister Steve Crosby. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 16, at Danville National Cemetery. Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams, is in charge of arrangements.
