Evelyn Luceil Bonnewell, 95, of Danville, passed away at 10:35 p.m. EDT Sunday, April 14, 2013, at The Waters of Covington.
She was born Feb. 12, 1918, in Patricksburg, Ind., the daughter of Walter and Ernestine (Biddle) White.
She married Cleo H. Bonnewell on Nov. 7, 1938, in Patricksburg, Ind. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1980.
Surviving her are one son, Robert Bonnewell of Danville; two daughters, Jeanette Kay (Ken) Knight of Potomac and Arletta Sue Rambis of Danville; one brother, Robert White of St. Pete Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Rea of Ellettesville, Ind., and Patty Hochstetler of Plainfield, Ind.; two grandchildren, Tim and Tammy Knight; and four great-grandchildren, Kallie, Dylan, Logan and Keaton; and many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters, Irma Dayhuff, Pauline Ream, Betty Hauser and Virginia Esther; and one son-in-law, Ed Rambis.
Evelyn spent most of her married life with her husband, Cleo, in Cuba, where he was a machinist with United Mine Workers of America in Canton. After his retirement they returned to Danville in 1972.
She was a faithful and dedicated member of First Church of the Nazarene. She loved to read – the Bible was her favorite. She always believed that prayer was the answer and knew the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior and made preparations to spend eternity with him and loved ones in heaven.
A celebration of Evelyn’s life will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville, with Ken Pavlick and Dave Anderson officiating. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will take place at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville.
