Christie Harrington, 59, of Oakwood, went to be with the Lord at 9:31 p.m. Oct. 29, 2013, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
She was born Nov. 13, 1953, in Paducah, Ky., the daughter of Robert William and Hazel Mae (Cook) Ware.
She married Dan Harrington on Feb. 15, 1981, in Bismarck. He survives.
Surviving are her husband and soul mate, Dan Harrington; four daughters, Summer (Kamell) Rassas of Arizona, Flahnery (Frank) Ybarra of Champaign, Wynter (Arturo) Peguero of St. Joseph and Ashley (Chase) Carter of Danville; two brothers, Jerry Ware of Louisiana and Terry (Susan) Ware of Shelbyville; one sister, Debbie (Lane) Hewett of Florida; 20 grandchildren, Mark, Giselle, Janea, David, Journey, Joseph, Frank III, Mario, Timmy, Mercedez, Salome, Antonio, Vincent, Dezarieh, Jasmine, Christie, Gabriel, Orion, Belvidere and Fiona.
Christie was preceded in death by her parents.
Christie was a gifted writer, publishing her first book “Beyond Appearances” in 1998. Christie’s love for music began early at age 3, singing with her father, later several bands and co-writing and singing Christian songs with her husband. Christie’s love for her husband, children and grandchildren was unsurpassed.
Anyone who has ever met Christie has been inspired by her loving heart and strength. Christie will be missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life memorial service for Christie will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastors Drew Mentzer and Dave Wickens officiating. A visitation will be 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.
