James Robert Frazier, 78, of Oakwood, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, in Danville.
Family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Pape Family Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams St. There will be no burial services.
James was born April 8, 1935, in Danville to John and Ethel (Eaton) Frazier.
He attended Danville schools before enlisting in the U.S. Army.
James went on to work in maintenance at Bungee Milling (formerly Lauhoff Grain Company) for more than 33 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the former Allied Industrial Workers of America 972 (now Steel Workers), where he was chairman of the bargaining committee for many years. James loved NASCAR, and could restore any truck or car — regardless of how much rust, or how many pieces it was in.
James married Delores Kinney, and she preceded him in death in 2012.
He leaves behind three children, Jeffrey (Teresa) Frazier, James (Dawn) Frazier II and Tamie Ostendorf; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey Wayne Frazier, Emily Frazier, Angelica Frazier, Robert Ostendorf, Derek (Samantha) Ostendorf, Chelsea Ostendorf, Corey Payne, Joel Tyler Frazier, and Blake (Somer) Frazier; five great-grandchildren, Hunter and Jackson Ostendorf, and Landon, Payton, and Westin Frazier; three brothers, Johnny (Lucille) Frazier, Russell “Fuzz” (Cathy) Frazier, and George Frazier; and one sister, Mary (Bruce) Wills. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delores; a brother, Archie Andrews; and a sister Jennie Hamilton.
