---- — Frederick “Fred” Paul Haas, 92, of Kokomo, Ind., , and formerly of Danville, Ill., , went to his heavenly home at 6:05 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at Northwoods Village in Kokomo.
Fred was born to the late William J. and Freda (Schramm) Haas on Dec. 6, 1920, in Danville, and attended Washington School there.
On Dec. 24, 1950, Fred married B. Marilyn Rogers at First Assembly of God Church in Danville; they were anticipating their 63rd anniversary this year.
Fred loved the Lord and attended the Assembly of God Churches in both Danville and Kokomo. Fred was very handy and succeeded at everything from building his own home in Danville to making toys for his grandchildren.
Fred was a loving husband, father, and beloved “grandpa.” His ability to make friends and touch lives with his smile, humor and sparkling blue eyes never faded. Fred’s loss of hearing to meningitis as a 16-year-old was never a hindrance to communication, as he used lip reading, talking, hand written notes, winks with either eye, and big bear hugs to convey his message.
Unquestionably his love for his Lord was shown to all who knew him through his character and the man he was. While family and friends will miss his presence, we rejoice in the blessed hope of joining him eternally.
Fred is survived by his wife, B. Marilyn Haas; his daughters, Freda (Don) Lucido of Martinez, Calif., and Paula (Larry) Concus of Kokomo; his grandchildren, Brad (Carey) Brozaitis, Christi Concus and Cory (Aliza) Concus; great-grandchildren, Lily Pollock, Kaylin Brozaitis, Ruby Concus, Jenna Brozaitis, Nina Millard, Riley Concus, Natalie Brozaitis, Wyatt Concus and Addison Belle Concus. Other survivors include a sister, Bertha Haas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
Fred’s friends and family are welcome to join together for a time of visitation on Friday, Nov. 1, from 4-8 p.m. EDT at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo. Visitation in Danville will be noon-2 p.m. CDT Saturday, Nov. 2, at Sunset Funeral Home, 3940 N. Vermilion St. There will be a memorial service for Fred at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunset with Pastor Randy Blankenship officiating.
