---- — Elenor Joyce Newnum, 74, of Cayuga, Ind., passed away at 6:33 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at home.
She was born Dec. 12, 1938, in Bismarck, Ill., a daughter of William Scott and Mary Mageline Bennett Woodard.
She married Ralph “Bunny” Swaim, Jr., he preceded her in death. She later married Paul Eston Newnum on Dec. 9, 1995. He preceded her in death Nov. 18, 2006.
She is survived by two brothers, Paul “Cork” Woodard and Bill (Sandy) Woodard, both of Cayuga; a sister-in-law, Betty Woodard of Cayuga; a brother-in-law, Joe Daniels in Florida; nephews, Bill Woodard Jr., Scott Woodard, Charlie Woodard, Paul Hamilton, Danny Daniels and Donny Daniels; nieces, Debbie Smith and Cindy Wilson; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Carol Daniels; a brother, Charles Woodard; sisters-in-law, Edna Woodard, Ardelle Foster, Evelyn Randolph, Mona Thompson and Bobbie Tryon; and a niece, Amy Woodard.
Joyce was a member of Kingman United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with her family, singing in the church choir and was active with the Tangier Covered Bridge Festival and Cayuga High School Alumni.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. EDT Monday, Oct. 21, at DeVerter Funeral Home with Ken Majors officiating. Burial will be in Tangier Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at DeVerter Funeral Home.
