Joan was an avid gardener who loved to spend time in either her vegetable garden or her flower beds. Joan simply loved being outside. When she wasn’t gardening, she could be found either bird watching or fishing. Joan was a giver. She endured many struggles in her life, but she overcame them and raised her children, but also was a caregiver to 13 other children. She also loved crafts whether it was sewing or crocheting different things for her family.
Above all else, Joan loved her family. She will be sorely missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to have known her.
A celebration of Joan’s life will begin at 2 p.m. Friday Oct. 18, at Sunset Funeral Home, with her son-in-law Larry McMillan, Brad Ferris and Jeremy Zerkle officiating. A visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville.
