---- — William B. Reynolds, 91, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, in Granite City.
He was born on Jan. 26, 1922, in Herrick, and was the son of the late Ray and Grace (Dobbs) Reynolds. He married Mary M. (Vinson) Reynolds on July 28, 1944, in Pensacola, Fla.
William served in the Naval Air Corp. as a pilot during World War II and received the Silver Star Medal. After the war he worked for the Penn Central Railroad as a yard master and train master. He attended the United Methodist Church in Danville and Punta Gorda, Fla., where Bill would serve as an usher and his wife Mary sang in the choir. He was also a 50-year Mason, a member of the Elks, VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, and his two sons Vinson (Doolin) Reynolds of Sterling, Va., and Allen (Alice) Reynolds of Bethalto. He also is survived by his four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his three sisters, Ina Mae Cox, Juanita Dadam and Elvina Tondello.
Per his wishes, Bill will be cremated. A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, with a memorial service at 2 p.m. Pastor Justin Snider will officiate. All services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville.
