Louis 'Boogie' James Lawrence

---- — Louis James Lawrence, 89, of Danville, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Colonial Manor in Danville.

Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Sunset Cemetery with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating.

Louis was born Dec. 9, 1923, in Atalla, Ala., to Ellie and Birdie (Hopkins) Lawrence.

He attended school in Etowah County, Ala., and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Louis worked for Heatcraft, formerly Bohn Aluminum, for 30 years, retiring in 1986.

He was a longtime member of Fairview Sportsman Club and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors.

Survivors include his children, Jimmie (Leon) Sanger, Frank (Charyl) Lawrence, Ellie (Chuck) Montgomery, and Vicki Lawrence; a special friend, Helen Ohl; his stepdaughter, Deanna (Jack) Booe; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Veronica; and a son, Louis Lawrence Jr.
