Diane Marie (Leach) Witherow

GEORGETOWN — On the afternoon of Saturday, June 22, 2013, the world lost an amazing woman, Diane Marie (Leach) Witherow, 57, of Georgetown.

She came into the world on Aug. 21, 1955, in Erie, Pa., the third child of Paul R. and Marjorie R. (Miller) Leach. She grew up in Brookside, Pa.

Diane was a 1973 graduate of Harbor Creek High School.

On Nov. 19, 1977, Diane married Ronald J. Witherow.

Once she became a mother, Diane devoted her life to her family. She welcomed anyone into her home. Diane was cheerful, funny, outgoing and didn’t know a stranger.

She played the piano since childhood and could always be found on Sunday mornings occupying the piano bench at Middlefork United Methodist Church.

She kept busy working in her yard and doting on her little yappy dog, Daisy. Diane loved to go on trips with her youngest daughter. She was always up for an “excellent misadventure.”

Diane left this world in the arms of her husband and youngest daughter, knowing she was loved. She touched countless lives in her short time on earth. A dozen people couldn’t make the difference she made in the world.

Diane is survived by her husband of 35 years, Ron Witherow of Georgetown; their daughters, Crystal Blomgren and her husband, Peter, of Joplin, Mo., and Amber D. Witherow of Terre Haute, Ind.; granddaughters, Dainyah and Moriah Blomgren; a brother, Dennis Leach and his wife, Dawna, of Roulette, Pa.; several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins; and last but not least, several granddogs.

Diane was greeted in heaven by her parents and a sister, Debora Ann Mallett.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 28, at Pape Funeral Home. A celebration of Diane’s life will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, with Pastor Sally Swaim officiating. A private burial of Diane’s ashes take place later at Roselawn Memorial Park, Terre Haute, Ind.

Don’t send plants! Diane was the only one with a green thumb. She would much prefer donations be given to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter. Roselawn Funeral Home coordinated the arrangements with the assistance of Pape Funeral Home.
