George L. Kamplain, 95, of Danville, died at 7 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Danville.
A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at Pontoppidan Lutheran Cemetery, Elliott.
Mr. Kamplain was born April 30, 1918, in Crawford County, Flat Rock, a son of George Frank and Lena D. Wesley Kamplain.
He married Hazel O. Hanson June 8, 1946, in Decatur. She preceded him in death Jan. 30, 1995.
He is survived by two sons, Wesley (Judy) Kamplain of rural Danville and Gary (Mary) Kamplain of Hudson; one daughter, Kathie Kamplain of Grand Junction, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, John (Joyce) Kamplain of Chicago; two sisters, Ruby Baker and Rosy Mitchell, both of Robinson; and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, five sisters, one daughter-in-law and a son-in-law.
From 1954-1988 he farmed near Ogden, retiring in 1988. From 1967-1984, he was employed at the University of Illinois in maintenance, retiring from there in 1984. He lived in Danville since 1988.
Mr. Kamplain was a member of Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Elliott and a member of the Vermilion County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed camping and traveling.
