DANVILLE — John Henry Moore Jr., 89, passed away at 4:02 a.m. on June 8, 2013, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

He was born on Dec. 29, 1923, in Collingdale, Pa., to John and Leah (Bird) Moore Sr.

He is survived by dear wife, Barbara; four children, John Henry Moore III, James Edward Moore, JoAnn (Moore) Warner and Beverly Irene (Moore) Henley; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

John served in World War II in the United States Navy.

In 1994, John married Ruth (Harling) Moore. There are many fond memories of John and Ruth’s marriage, including their excellent dancing and superb jitterbug. Ruth preceded John in death in 1987.

In 2005, John remarried Barbara Pierce of Danville. They enjoyed many special times together such as the ministry work and attending special Bible assemblies every year. Barbara will truly miss him.

The most memorable day of John’s life was when he dedicated himself as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 10, 1993. He had pure excitement in his ministry when it came to sharing truths from the Bible. Also, John had a wonderful privilege of performing his ministry in the local prison. He always reflected on God’s hope for the future. Everyone will truly miss John’s zeal, warm heart and positive thinking.

A Celebration of Life memorial service for John will be held at 1 p.m. June 22 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 619 E. Voorhees St., Danville, with Clarence Rudolph officiating. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville is in charge of arrangements.
