Erva “Polly” Watson, 87, of Danville, passed away at 2:26 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Hawthorn Inn in Danville.
Polly was born May 25, 1926, the daughter of Delmar and Anna Cleo (Max) Walker in Charleston, Ill.
She married John C. Watson on Sept. 2, 1950, in Danville. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, John R.(Kim) Watson of Moore, S.C., and Jeffrey (Penny) Watson of Danville; four grandchildren, John Robert (Rachel) Watson, Matthew Dillon Watson, Ryne Watson and Cody Paul Watson; and one sister, Brenda Snyder of South Bend, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and one sister.
Polly attended Lakeview School of Nursing, were she received her Registered Nursing degree. She worked as a RN for 36 years at the V.A. Medical Center, retiring in 1985.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, playing cards, walking, swimming, reading, traveling and her flower gardens. Polly also helped with Meals on Wheels, and was involved in Faith in Action. She was a member of Lakeview Alumni and Friends of the Library.
A Celebration of Polly’s Life will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville. Officiating will be Rev. Randall Robinson. A visitation for Polly will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
